Orchiectomy at Albany Medical Center

Written December 2018.

I met Dr. Mark White and immediately felt comfortable with him. I had never had surgery before in my life, and I had a severe anxiety attack during pre-surgery in my hospital room when the anesthesiologist asked me to sign documents. Mark put the surgery on hold for another day and was so compassionate. He called me a few days later and asked me to come in. We spent some time together and I talked about my panic disorder and PTSD. He got a friend of his that was the head of anesthesiology to personally handle my surgery and to work with me to get all the patient documents out of the way. He then gave me valium to take at the end of the drive to the hospital, gave me another when I got to my room, and stayed with me until I went to sleep for surgery. What an amazing person. Surgery went well; but after I finished my post surgery antibiotics I got a horrible UTI. While it had nothing to do with the surgery, Mark spent time with me at the hospital and we did 3 different antibiotic regimens until the pain and the blood and clots in the urine stopped permanently. Amazing bedside manner and he truly cares about his patients.
